Surprisingly steady snow, a bit earlier than I expected. A little too warm to stick to anything except trees at the moment.

Brutal February sun angle is stealing my snow! Incidentally, if it's too warm to accumulate on asphalt, can I measure from the top of my crusty old snow?

Had a couple snow showers. Looks wintry.

Started snowing about 20 minutes ago. Not sticking to the road or driveway yet as we're at 33 degrees.  Accumulating on the old snow, however.

Pre-storm snow depth avg 6.5".  First measurement will be at 7:15pm

I used to have a 2x2 foot plywood with white lexan over it but it got stolen believe it or not, so I just use a 2'  sq piece with saran wrap

Proof that people will steal anything.

I love the cutting board though…wish I shifted to that from a painted piece of wood sooner.

that is an awesome idea, my wife threw away our plastic one years ago, only wood now, will have to get one just for snow measuring... not in Waterbury anymore so I'm probably safe it won't get stole

Some of my most memorable winter storms began like this; low-level onshore easterly flow moistening up the atmosphere with light snow breaking out well in advance of the main event; I remember the Feb. 1969 storm starting like this; hours of light and intermittent snow, somewhat meaningless snow; but it was tipping off the fact that moisture was not going to be an issue.

Yeah just looking at the radar and this low level moisture start producing feels like a good sign.

Nemo started like this as well. Basically twelve hours of wet, largely non-accumulating snow, then BOOM!

although it’s been snowing lightly since early this morning it has now picked up considerably so I guess this is the beginning of the blizzard of 26, 29°
