coastalplainsnowman
2 minutes ago, the_other_guy said: If CPK got 4.3 this isnt really a bust. Just a low end of the range. I lived thru busts in the 80s and 90s before we had all this technology in the palm of our hand. You would go to bed expecting snow and you would wake up to grass. Enjoy it! As someone rightly pointed out, a snowstorm from the NW is a rarity in NYC. Also a rarity (lately) in NYC: a snowy December. That is perfectly stated. You'd go to bed hearing the magical "3 to 6" being mentioned, sure you were looking at a snow day, only to throw open the curtains Night Before Christmas style, quickly assess the situation, and realize you were still looking at grass. There's your baseball on the lawn, clear as day. You could almost hear the sad trombone.

Krs4Lfe
Just measured about 5” here in Bayside. Definitely must have snowed a few inches last night. I guess that wasn’t a monumental bust; just on the low end of guidance. Looks to be a widespread 4-6 across NYC, north NJ, LI, coastal CT with 6-8” across west Chester. So now NYC has in between 7 to 10 inches of snow this month and about 5° colder than normal so definitely a snowy and cold month. It’s a pretty good way to start off winter.

weatherpruf
9 minutes ago, Stormlover74 said: About 2.5". After last night I'll take it something unusual happened...we got an end dump instead of a front end thump....when i saw RU talking about bands last night i figured meh...woke up to around 3 in on top of a firm sleet base, making for a picturesque winter day that requires plowing; the plow guy came by a lot last night, wish he'd done that the last storm where we had nearly 7 in...still i was very disappointed last night, but like the feeling you get when your team pulls off a last second tie in a soccer match, it feels like a win even if it wasn't....and hey its only december....i know we're supposed to have a front loaded winter that sucks, but if i knew nothing else, i'd say we are on track to see some more of this in the upcoming weeks. til the next my friend....

The 4 Seasons
Really curious to see how this shakes out in the final map. After seeing all the reports this morning above 4" im thrilled that NNJ and NYC should all fall within the 3-6" range.
