Saharan dust may possibly join the party by next weekend or beyond, as it travels West across the lower Atlantic and then moves NW into the Gulf and then possibly North and Northeast. Its a crazy weather world these days.

dailylurker Posted yesterday at 09:54 AM Share Posted yesterday at 09:54 AM I'm super over the cold windy weather. My tomato plants look like crap from the cold nights. Bring on 95/70. Seven months of fall is enough lol

Just a little more unhealthy due to cold nights. Potatoes and cannabis don't seem to mind cold windy springs.

Paleocene
Smoke is definitely starting to blow into the area up high. Was all blue here wall-to-wall in the morning but now the Western sky is definitely milky gray, east more blue.

dailylurker
I don't remember this smoke from Canada ever in my 46 years of life. Maybe the haze in the 90's was smoke? I'm definitely not saying it's some conspiracy. I'd like to know why now and never before. Or was i just not noticing it years ago? Cloudy with thick smoke and
wxdude64
Another chilly night, low was 40.5 degrees, close to a record but no cigar (38 in 1994). Currently up to 44.2/43.0 at 7:30 am. It was pretty hazy/smoky yesterday afternoon and evening but doesn't appear as bad this am.

Cloudy with thick smoke and 56 From what I have read, some of it may have to do with Forest mismanagement in Canada. I'm sure there is more to it than that. Possibly the way Canada deals with the forest fires as well. It would be something interesting to look into further. In this morning's area forecast discussion, the Mount Holly office even states that more smoke will be evident today as it moves in from the north and west

Cloudy with thick smoke and 56 Ha, I was just coming to post something similar. Hazy, milky summer skies in the 20th century were definitely due to pollution. Maybe there was occasional wildfire smoke but I don’t remember it. We have drastically improved air quality in the last 30 years, but now we get these smoky skies annually it seems. I know the last 3 years have been the worse for Canadian wildfires in modern history. I think there’s debate on how much wildfires are “normal” and what pre-colonization levels were.
