At friends in Boonton Twp today, it rained hard on 2 occasions; drove back to Chester and it looked like it had mist. That’s quite the spread over 15 miles as the crow flys.

0.70" here on si west shore...other gage in castleton corners picked up 1.55". Not much lightning though during heaviest part it seemed

We lucked out with the outflow boundaries from the earlier storms west of us sparking new storms over us.

Smithtown/Hauppauge areas look like they got nailed, up to 2.5”. Definitely needed there since they haven’t been as lucky with the rain IMBY and further west.

I see lots of 1.5" to 2" totals in Middlesex County. Of course just a few miles to my south and east like usual. I ended up with 0.68". I don't know what it is that constantly causes the heavier storms to slip just to the south of my area here in the NW corner of the County. But at least I got almost three quarters of an inch, so decent. That seemed like a deluge after how dry it has been lately.
