I think it's more venting about what turned out to be a crappy pattern for us...

Easy explanation to crappy pattern. It's not enough anymore that NAO/AO is very negative.

We need a strong PNA due to warmer SSTs causing stronger ridging east of New England and more south based blocks.

This is more true for 1st half of winter. This is why Decembers have sucked over the last 10-12 years and why Jan-March have seen better patterns.

Agree 100%.   Analogs from colder period don't carry as much weight either....

Yawn, 2.5 inches of rain and end with some snow that didn’t  stick

At least you saw some flakes, I only got just over 1/4 inch of rain on the south shore of LI, we dry-slotted the entire event lol. The wind is strong but we get wind this level at least once a year. The coastal flooding was pretty bad though, worse than Irene levels in some spots on the south shore

This storm really hasn't been that big of a deal in the HV. 2 inches of rain and max gust of 35. Right now 35 with some light snow that barely coated the ground and almost done.

winds were a bigger deal here but rains busted....some good sized limbs down around town.
