I have mine for 6.

Eh, that’s when i usually get up. I’d rather be awake and not see anything for an hour or 2 over potentially missing some snow

Judging by the radar I am thinking first flakes coming up from SW at 4.  Just a wag.

I feel like the HRDPS has too much of a dry slot in Central VA. Given how much the radar has shown, we weren't expecting the amount of moisture it has provided thus far

35/13.  DP starting to slowly rise.
Looks like CHO should start to see some light snow soon.

I was going to sleep until 1:00 since mPING obs aren’t showing up much past Roanoke, but I’ll keep you updated.

Yeah.  That prediction sounded more like a late night prison movie starring Rip Taylor.

Headed to bed. I'll probably get up at my normal time. Even the HRRR (if it's worth anything) has improved, so I'd put 3" as my low bar.

3-6" is my call IMBY and it's right in line with both LWX and CWG.

In all seriousness, my hygrometer says 13% relative humidity outside now in Augusta County.  Going to need that to rise.

eta:  local weatherbug says 63%.  my hygrometer must be malfunctioning

32/21 in Haymarket.  No way that we wait until 5 am for precip to start falling.  Looks like about 3 am according to radar, however I don't see us getting more than 3 inches in this neck of the woods.

This place is already a mad house. I love it! Think I’m getting a few hours in before my 5am coffee alarm. Gonna be a rocking obs thread in here for a good part of day. Just remember to get outside and enjoy whatever fluffy beat down we get.  Do it before the dreadful pingers come knocking.

It is just dumping snow here right now. Meatball sized flakes coming down. Impressive to say the least.

To add, best part is with these bands the temp went from 39 to 33 so once evaporational cooling commenced the temp plummets. Starting to get slushy on non grassy surfaces now, including driveway.

Is it my imagination or is the radar substantially ahead and healthier looking than lets say the HRRR?

Nope. It’s hard to believe that with a radar like that, this doesn’t come in hot and heavy around 6-8am. We’ll see if the global are right or the NAM/HRRR. Despite what some Mets say, I always like to blend GFS/Euro

Well I'll set my alarm for 5 AM here in Baltimore to get out ahead of it! Hopefully it'll be banging on my door!
