Portions of Orange County show what can happen with training convection in situations like these.

I'm up to 6.44"

I have been under training convection several times in the past when the totals went past 5.00. The most extreme version was in August 2011 when I had 10.00 to 11.00 and most of the rain  fell in less than 7 hours.  Back in June 1995 I picked up 5.15 in around 90 minutes.

Congrats to thise on the coast and LI, another hyped up event here and hardly gotten much.

There's always winners and losers in these setups.  The flooding is usually in a fairly small area that's hard to pinpoint ahead of time.   Kind of in the middle here.

yeah this was always going to be hit or miss just based on the set up and where boundaries set up -- I was actually surprised at how much coverage there was of moderate rain last night and obviously now we're seeing some incredible downpours across parts of the region.

And that training rain doesn't seem to be in a hurry to go anywhere -- going to be another crazy day of reports across the region.

This was our most extreme period around July 4th with record heat, damaging winds causing power outages, and torrential downpours leading flooding.

I was at a site inspection in Ocean Township from 10:00-11:30 this morning.

It was some of the heaviest rain I’ve seen in a while. Multiple roads were flooded as I made my way back to Route 18.

like those roads never flooded before - maybe they should spend some of our tax $$ upgrading whats causing the drainage issues............
