Finally saw the first lightning bug of the season! I’m sitting on the patio with a whiskey(s) and a few flying around, so I expect they’ll be out in force with a little heat this weekend.

We've worked hard the past decade to let our lawn grow longer, end bad chemical usage, and increase native plants to boost our lightning bugs.

The two inch soil values have crashed statewide. We really need another 1"-2" of rain in the next week.

Yup. The temperature inversion was evident on the nighttime low temp map on the mesonet. Baltimore City already up to 77 degrees at 8am.

Out at the cabin in Garrett there's a thunderstorm watch just issued and I checked the radar and it looks like a pretty solid line heading this direction.  72F, sunny and windy out now.

The amount of rain is rather pitiful with this line moving through (0.15") but did have a 66 MPH gust that did some minor tree damage.

Punchy storm moving thru…enough to knock the power out. Heard the transformer blow. We’re still good at increased storm chances when there’s actually humidity.

Line like predicted is splitting right over me. Light winds and some spotty rain. Knew I should not have looked at radar. 

And look at that it has re-connected to my East. Getting a lot of thunder now so I guess I will take that as my consolation prize.

Looks like the storm that went though here are gonna be just north of home back in Calvert.  Ain't no surprise.  

Up here we had very heavy wind, I can believe the 65mph gust.  We did luck into some heavy rain for about 20mins.  I need to get a weather station for up here so I can measure this stuff.

Line of severe storms pushed through here (Deep Creek) around 4p - T&L, strong winds, and heavy, heavy rain.  Currently sunny, breezy, and 67 degrees - gorgeous weather sitting on the deck.  Looks like more severe storms to the west crossing into WV/PA.
