It’s not the stuff of PVD lore and SE MA but been lucky enough to stay in it when a little further NW sucked on exhaust for a few hours. Consistently 1-2” per hour stuff. 

 

was just outside snow blowing and we had about 5” new from when I last did it and had 13”. So we’re past 18” at this point. 20+ is a lock.

Anyways, not a whole lot of snow up here in Portland ME but impressive blizzard conditions out there. Hopefully we can cash in later this week, especially the resorts.

Was very surprised with BOX's 12-22" blizzard warning for Hampshire and Hampden county.  NBM was weenieish, but not sure what in the blend of models had anything close on the high side.

Anyway, maybe 7" here

I'm being sincere here. Not doubting you just look at the depth change on the far-right column and one can clearly quite a discrepancy. If one measures fluffy snow every 6 hours thee will be inflated totals. This is why I believe it's more a snow depth than a snowfall

Yeah the NBM was way overdone in a lot of the region.

HRRR has an additional 2-5" for most locations east of 190 for E MA, far W CT, and all of RI. More (4/5") towards SE MA.

I don't have near what PVD has either, and I'm in North Providence. I'm more around 22-24 (If you account for Packing). I think the snow does drop off as you go north, and Cumberland is one of the furthest north towns in RI.

I shouldn't be laughing because I'm only about 10 miles SW of him, but to be honest, it hasn't been that bad. We started with about a foot OTG, and we've gotten about 2 or 3" since I measured about 8 a couple hours ago, so it's at least got the appearance of a lot more snow.

NBM has been high up here in numerous events this season.  Definitely a bit weenie-ish.  Not sure if it’s ratios or what… it’s always the high side of guidance.

We're still getting used to the forecast process now, and the NBM is good, but it still has some big holes.

One is that it provides us with snow ratios, but it nearly always too high. It is too frequently in the 15-20:1 range. 

As an example for BOX's CWA, if you just had your extended forecast living in the 8-14:1 range you would be a lot less susceptible to these kinds of NBM busts.
