Seeing the reflectivity decrease across the ffx county/louden area probably means we’re going to get out of this rain snow mix soon into a more snow dominant ptype

I hope so.  Everyone around reporting fatties and we have light rain/drizzle

I'll just point out again that this is a 1-hour snowfall map.

.3-.5/hr is not nothing

.5 is fine but that area seemed very small. .3? With marginal temps? Meh. Pretty bad when 50 plus miles east there is a blizzard.

Got any tools I could use to see where it’s setting up? I’m right next to Dulles and am liking where the banding has been.

SPC mesoanalysis page 850mb winds (Version 2) is pretty nice. You can see some  of the convergent winds over PA down into NoVA. That's a good indicator. Also watch the radar from PA down into MD/VA for localized reflectivity maxima orienting into a line. That's a good indication it's starting.

Much needed .41 in the rain gage but I sure wish it had been 4" of snow. I usually don't get too disappointed at weather because I can't control it but this blows a bit. I'll keep telling myself we need the rain but....

I've been telling myself the same thing!  Even though I am looking forward to spring gardening weather, I still get that awful feeling when I am in the midst of a snow bust.  Years of being a weather weenie school teacher messes with your emotions when it comes to snow.  lol.
