I mean it's legit snow just too warm for impact but it's super pretty to watch fall

I remember watching snow accumulate in the January 2000 storm that was supposed to be mostly rain. Temps were around 35. My friends had just gotten married and my husband drove them from Fairfax to Baltimore as the snow piled up.

Trust me folks, it has been brought to my attention.

This storm has unbelievable potential.

Expect earlier than expected progression of rain to snow across the area, AT THE VERY LEAST. Expect strong development of a snow shield with time. It's not just the coastal. It's another system over the Great Lakes. That system is going to combine with the developing coastal low, with very fun effects for parts of the DMV. I noticed this from radar, both the last 12 hours as well as extrap over the next 6 to 10 hours.

You guys are in for a treat. I am in south Texas but I am now so damned overexcited that I want to scream this from the housetops, until I am fooking HOARSE!!!

Yeah, the early mixing obs are fun, but I have to think ~5pm is still the target time for almost everyone minus our really favored spots.

Yeah, even those seeing sn/rasn now probably won’t accumulate much beyond an inch until everyone flips after 5 pm

still, I’d feel better if i’m at 35-36 now

nevermind. rain looks normal again.  Guessing we go back and forth for the bulk of the day, but hoping all snow kicks in before noon

I told my parents last night it might snow earlier than the forecasts are saying and they might not see much rain, and then they sent me a video a few minutes ago showing me the snow getting started.

I also told them to expect 6-10” even while they were thinking 2-6” - and now LWX has them at 5-10” with more to the east.

Now I know it’s still mixing and going back and forth in many spots, but I imagine those at higher elevations will be at an advantage before the evening.
