I thought these streaks were temps at or below 32F, so streak wouldn't be over yet.  Not that it really matters.  If we get 2 days this week of 33 and 34 F and it then stays below 32F thru 2/10, that's still 18 days straight below 34F, which is still way below normal and just as impressive as the record of 16 days at or below 32F.

35 now.

Almost always ends up warmer with full sun and lack of CAA.

If this was a couple of weeks from now, today’s temps would have overperformed by even more. Post 2/20 is when full sun and lack of CAA really starts to have an effect

36 here. Temps overperforming a little bit.

The models in the long range look mild for mid February. Quite a change. I think most people will welcome a warmer period after the very cold December, January and first third of February. I do want to see another snowstorm though, so hopefully winter will come back for later February or early March.

The sun is getting a little stronger which helps. Might be a little warmer tomorrow. Streak is over for Boston and Hartford too.

Yup. Was just going to say that today is the first day in more than a week that I see signs of some melting in Manhattan.  But we desperately need a snowpack whitener.  Snow banks getting very nasty.

It's really a shame to waste 3 weeks of peak winter climo to drought. By the time the longwave suppression eases we'll be fighting climo norms.

At this point we all at least experienced a solid period of real winter with a decent snowstorm and sustained cold.

Would have been nice if a couple of additional snow events panned out? Absolutely! But at this point all I'm looking for is one more solid storm to bookend an acceptable winter.

All the models are dry and then 2 rainstorms Valentine’s Day weekend… plenty of time for they to change though hopefully it does

SE ridge develops on most models.

Normals at NYC on Feb 28 are 45/32. Spring is coming fast.

But many of us don't live in NYC.

The normals in Orange County today are 35/15, on Feb 28 they are 41/20 a big difference from the UHI. Bring on a snowy February and March and let's stop talking about Spring on Feb 2. We're in the middle of a decent winter for the first time in four years, can't we just enjoy it.

Absolutely agree CP …. But how often in February does this happen, I believe it was a 3 pm Accu Weather reading.

It is amazing. People who start talking about fall on August 2nd would be chewed up and spit out of here. Then again this winter has already been longer than the past several :P. It is absolutely wild how on February 2nd, people see a relaxation in the pattern and immediately it is time for spring.

relaxing from an extreme cold period and just going back to closer to normal for a few days before the next shorter extreme cold period beginning later this week. After that is anyone's guess IMO
