First time I am able to fully appreciate the insulation significance of a deep pack.

The severe persistent cold and the “before this storm” and after really made the affect apparent. The duration of the cold also has made it worthwhile for a little extra effort to stack in the cold spots.

Using a lot less heat makes this all a lot more enjoyable.

I fully expect to get screwed on today's stuff.....I'm sure it will be more CJ. Note moving forward with more storms in the pipeline...toss the globals on CF placement, far and wide. NAM nailed it. being pinned to the N shore and near 128. GFS and EURO had it up by me.

You’ll get at least 1-2” today. At least a moderate shot at more…best dPVA not until after 21z….radar will fill in as the afternoon wears on and into evening. The best will def be in the CJ spots but the rest of us in central/eastern areas should get a steady burst for a time.

Soil 2 is 4” deep and Soil 3 is 8”. The ground is barely frozen. The soil moisture is at 6” and it reads 200cb when it freezes up.

You’re not done yet

Tough measurement for my location, after assessing the drifting and multiple measurements, I think I'm closer to 20 than the 18 inch total I reported.  Heading out to dig out the generator!

Yea, whatevs...I figured Monday was always mostly rainbows and unicorns, anyway...any additional just a bonus.

Coming in late here because of 3 hours plus of clearing our driveway, my neighbors driveway and a spot across the street, plus paths and clearing off 6 cars, followed by driving to work.

Anyway, it was hard to take any good measurements at my place as always.  Mainly because I live on a small peninsula, and our spot is perpetually caught in a never ending wind vortex of DOOM.  Snow was basically falling sideways or at a 45 angle for most of the storm.  I finally had to measure a bunch of different areas, including my neighbors (our house sites are very tight together).

I came up with an average of 12"-13" total, not including what may be falling now (I'm currently at work)

@The 4 Seasons

Edit: 27" so far for the season, which is more than last years season total, the year before that total, and the year before that total.

Crazy that you guys got near 20"!  I'm within walking distance from Adam's Point (not directly on the water) which isn't too far from either of you.  Maybe the bay has some sort of influence to chronically keep numbers down?

I didn’t measure to be honest. Drifts everywhere. But there was already a ton of snow out there last night. Easily 18” yesterday around 10 pm.

I definitely had some coastal front enhancement here.

Nice band over central areas right now.

This even is comparably to only two other storms since I moved to Methuen in October 2018, that being December 1-3, 2019, and January 7, 2024; however, both of those systems melted fairly rapidly with sustained warmth imminently on the horizon. This most assuredly looks to be the most impressive stretch of winter since moving here given that warmth is nowhere in site at this time-The SNE snow drought is dead...rejoice.

Beast mode there! What a storm

2 weeks ago I was posting to my clients about the ghost of Jan 2015 walking through the door!  Well, he's now sitting at the kitchen table!  Great storm... Last week Will posted about the Gulf opening up (moisture flow) and how that tends to mean northward trends!  I have been waiting for the gulf and deep southern moisture to get involved for years!!!  Let's see if we can keep it going with East Coast action.
