Yup. Looks like the same down here. 2” was my aim. Fell short, but oh well.  It’s quite pretty out!

For several reasons I doubt I’m living in this part of DC next winter, if I’m even in dc. Doubt the gf will let me factor elevation into it but would be nice to reclaim some greenery and height. I’m going with DCA’s 0.3”

though it is awesome being so close to the mall when it does snow

Think school mcps and howard county go with two hour delay tomm? Quite a bit of snow along parr’s ridge.

.

I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a delay. There will probably be quite a few slick spots on the back roads.

Getting wrecked by this band right now. Gusty winds, blowing snow, and SN+.

You're my early warning detection lol. I got under that band and had over an inch in about 20 minutes and the temp fell to 7. Days like this make all life's problems kinda melt away (no pun intended). Great pic.

had to salt my sidewalk real quick before the city came to fine me lol

And you know they would.  I was up during the heavy bands and was surprised how quick the sidewalks caved down here.  Even started to accumulated on my street, which is a secondary thoroughfare.  We fell short, but at least we were in the game this time.

We just visited friends in Brookland and there is still snow and ice on the roads in spots that are shaded. Frosty out there

Yeah it was difficult. I finally asked my neighbor if he would mind if I measured the sheltered area on his property. He was so confused but obliged. 3.3” was what was measured on the uncleared surface. So could have been a few tenths higher even, but alas, the 3.3” is what was submitted to LWX.

Asking a normie neighbor. That's dedication.

yeah our streets caved - i doubt Wisconsin Ave did though.  But yeah, at least we got something.  Kids were happy (but played outside very briefly because it is not pleasant out lol).

I’m starting to wonder if the mesos have a bias for more qpf in the 24 hours leading up to the event. We know the nam does this, but do other mesos have that same bias? I think the HRRR was onto something with the local minima over Loudoun.

I'd the hrrr best suited for snow? It has been great having short term forecasts and seeing updates so rapidly. I have never really trusted it to be right but to help in convective setups.

Another snow squall blowing through here with sideways snow.  Pavement covered quickly.  19°.

Not enough to coat but a nice mod snow for a few minutes.  Blustery, roof blizzards and sideways snow squalls.  I like days like today.  Looks like a few more coming from the NW. 20/9

With the view out of Wisp in last hour @katabatic and others have to be getting dumped on!

I just finished shoveling (again) and had 2 squalls move through this afternoon and each one dropped at least an inch. Didn't expect the intensity that they've shown today as there has been multiple instances of true 0 visibility. A really nice overperformer and it's very cold: 5.8 above outside now. In keeping with the winter spirit, I have a big batch of beef and veggie soup on the menu for tonight. I came *this* close to chasing the L. Ontario LES band this weekend and am glad I stayed put.
