In the last 30 years at DCA there have been 12 below average Dec. In last 30 there have been four at -5 or colder:1995, 2000, 2005 2010. Notice how in blocks of five and perhaps again this year
Eskimo Joe
If these clouds can stay in place for another hour to hour and a half I might manage sub-25° high temperature.
dailylurker
I'm out here hiking in Crownsville. I can't tell if im tripping or what. I hiked from 180' elevation to 30' elevation and I swear there's more snow at 180. Like an inch more. Is that possible? At higher elevation it could, but here?

The 12/14 event was a highly elevation dependent event.

And yes, the snow line can be very pronounced. I've seen Trace to 2" within 30 feet vertical.

Downtown D.C. at 10' or so probably got .3"-.5" from the storm we just had. Move over to Arlington at even 100' you pretty solidly get 1". Just drove it the other day.

Drive from C'ville to Crozet even. You see it in the valley a lot - Between about Winchester and southern Augusta County, you are slowly increasing in elevation. Sometimes you have rain turning to snow as you drive south.

87storms
Just played ball in 65 and sunshine here in southern Nevada and just peeked at the radar. Looks like a snow shower moving thru FDK? Do I miss it? Nope lol. Will I be ready for a snowstorm when I get back in a week or two? Yep. Though I guess it looks like a milder pattern incoming there for a bit.
