up here, I average about 2.5" in November over the last 18+ years. and i have had 6 with 0.0" of snow.

so no, November is not a winter month.

I’m not sure how you’d define that down there. Up here it’s a little easier to do if you base it on snow pack streaks. Like going DJFM with at least some X value of pack. We have the ability to minimize nasty cutters here like in 07-08. 

07-08 is the nearest to a W2W winter I've experienced south of Fort Kent, and even that one had a very mild week in January, as 7-13 averaged 17° AN and the 8th was +26, greatest AN day we've had in Jan.  Fortunately, that thaw had no accompanying deluge.

Only got down to 20 here - wind must've lasted a few hours longer.  Not many autumns where you got below 20 before this rad pit.  Even Tip got into the teens first.

Looks like not just your locale where temps stayed a bit higher as well, This was 6am, KLEW hit 17°F on the 7:00am update.

Felt like winter late last night and early this morning as I had to bring my wife’s car in for service before a long trip.  One cold November I recall about 25 years ago had a light coating of ice on the Charles River a few days before Thanksgiving.  I’m pretty confident of our best start in a long time.  We may have some driving issues the first week of December along the heart of the LES country.  But I’m bringing my boots, ice spikes which may be needed, and heaviest coats, gloves, etc.

Not saying it's high confidence - how could I ... But typically the front side wave spaces, while major hemispheric mode changes are underway, are cyclogen active.

Lost 90 lbs down to high school playing weight 234. Hopefully hit 225 by New Year's. Good eating and a honey do list longer than a Mt Mansfield winter.

Prefrontal days are always warmer than normal especially this late in fall.

Saturday bottomed out around 29.  As I passed by ponds en route to disk golf I noticed ice had crept out about 4 to 6' from the shores, so thin it was gone by early afternoon.  Hadn't seen that in recent autumns (I'm the type of nerd that noticed little details like that).   Recent Novembers hadn't provided for that intermediate stage in inland ice, but this year hearkens back to that. 

I didn't venture out this morning but I'm sure at 19 there was probably more than just shore ice.    

If lakes in November can hold a duck the rest of winter is mud and muck???
