kdxken Posted yesterday at 01:21 PM Share Posted yesterday at 01:21 PM Yellow jacket powder update. Works like a charm. Poured around four nests at Dawn. Three dead within a couple hours. Fourth one is a monster and yellow jackets still visible. First one I dug up is volleyball sized. Spray wasn't working they were deep under the wood. 3

Go Kart Mozart
It looks like we will end August -2 or thereabouts. Seems like summers these days are one month of heat, then on to fall. I was so tempted to leave out the emoji and get the AWATT crowd all pissed off... 1 1

It kills me that it is the only official station in Franklin or Hampshire counties. It’s not exactly representative of temperatures in W MA. I think it’s basically Orange, North Adams and Westfield with a massive triangle of area in between, with no official observations.

Its departures are probably within reason though… that’s really what the official stations are useful for. Comparison to previous years. The temperatures may differ in spots by location, elevation, topography, etc… but the departures are probably comparable.

We shall inevitably revisit this post again on Halloween, Christmas and perhaps Valentine’s Day and get a good chuckle out of it. At least the a/cs get a respite for the time being. I agree, but the distance between “official” reference points across the northwestern part of Massachusetts leaves a lot of gaps.

I’ve been a proponent of persistence expectations in summer (humid, all the time)… but August proved persistence wrong in a big way.

rimetree
August was only slightly BN here but bucks the trend of the summer, which ends just a bit under +2. Got 1.32" of precip in Aug with 5.21" total for met summer, which is -6.93". Need to shake things up to start correcting this deficit.
