I go in friends pool around 3 PM. Pool is 88. I come out of pool to dry off. I start sweating in 3 minutes. I go back in pool. Repeat

I go back home, turn the sprinkler on at 8 PM. I run through the sprinklers and get my head all wet. I dry myself off in front of big ass fan. I step away from fan and start sweating again within 5 minutes. I do the whole process again 3 more times, then i finally decide to go inside.

When that heat index hits 119 degrees down here in Texas, I start getting sick. Drink water like a hot horse and get into air conditioning. Or crawl into an ice cooler at 7-11. This kind of heat is a CRITICAL EMERGENCY!

This is a very serious situation. Your region is in an extreme heat wave for your part of the country. Check on relatives and the elderly. Stay cool and hydrated, even at night. Be extremely careful doing strenuous activities especially in the sun. Take lots of breaks and get in a cool pool in the SHADE or better yet in the AC with an industrial fan blasting cool wind chill values.

Wasn’t Ian’s target for 100F days to hit 90 by 10am??

It was.

It seems like lately we hit 90 by 10am more frequently while topping out at 98/99. That last degree or two has been hard to get.

I’d probably reframe it now as being at 90 at 10am is the latest you want to see and still have any shot. Ideally you need to be there earlier.

Would be kind of ironic if today we reached 100 degrees

Our heatwaves almost always follow this pattern:

- First day under performs

- Second day comes in about as expected, usually topping out at 98-100

- Third day we set an 80 degree low (though we just missed today)

- Third day over performs and we tie/exceed the highest temp of the heatwave

- Evening thunderstorms on the third day wipe out the 80 degree low

3k NAM and HRRR have some storms popping up later today

94.6 with a dew of 78.1. I like a lot of natural light in my house. But have kept all the blinds closed and the house fan on to help the AC not come on as much.

Meanwhile sitting here eating leftover Greek rubbed pork tenderloin bites with some homemade Tzatziki. With one of the cats stalking me thinking he will get a quick drive by of pork.
