Some of our neighbors treat for mosquitoes.  Hubbardston is a giant swampy forest. So unless you drop a ton of DDT, the mosquitoes would laugh.

Foggers work a bit for a few hours.  We didn’t plan on doing the fire tonight so I didn’t have any on hand.

We usually spray our yard like once a month and it does the trick. But if you happen to go in the woods around here past 6, forget it..it’s bug city! We did have a truck with one of those giant fog horns in the back spraying a little more than a week ago but it really hasn’t done much good around here. That 6” deluge back in May has led to some massive spawns in recent weeks, along with any smaller events since then.

Spraying sucks. No.

Attract more dragonflies.

I'm not in a rural area by any means, but I still try to create an environment that doesn't disturb nature too much. The last two years I've had a resurgence of fireflies, rabbits, and pollinators.

The fireflies have had a banner year so far. Not sure how much my mowing habits contribute lol.

Hopefully we get past the hottest part of the year without any brutal temps

Kind of too late I think although the hottest portion of summer is historically ahead of us.  I met 2 friends for dinner last Tuesday.  I usually walk but after I parked my car in my secret free spot, I started walking and realized it was really dumb to try 3 miles with the temperature over 100 and the sun still blazing.  So the Green Line was right there at Coolidge Corner and thankfully the ac was working.  I decided to get off at Kenmore and walk the half mile to the restaurant.  I noticed there wasn't anyone older than 4 decades younger than me on the street.  I walk 5-8 miles every day and I felt the half mile walk.  As soon as I walked into the restaurant someone handed me a cold glass of water and a seat at the bar.  I walked back to Kenmore after dinner and took the Green Line back to Coolidge Corner and then drove home.  I still went out to walk a few miles close to midnight with my wife.  Temperatures were still mid 80s even in my hilly leafy neighborhood.  Last week was close to as crazy hot as it can get around here.
