Was just walking my pup in my yard and I see this huge black bear wander 100 feet away, eating bread my wife threw out for the birds. It went over the wall and is taking a snooze, waiting for him to get up so I can take a pic.

go cuddle up with it and take a nap.

This is my favorite bear sleeping in the woods video, from Vermont last summer.  You need the sound up for it to be best appreciated.  I feel like I am a 12 year old for enjoying it so much.

38 and 39°F respectively here the last two days.

Clouds from yesterday's little band of showers stopped yesterday morning's coolness at 41.
Cloud free so far today, skeeters, one horsefly-sized critter and ticks where I was picking up the fallen red maple that had blocked (then was cut from) the club trail thru our woodlot.  The wood was about 100 feet, nearly half wet/mushy and the rest a rock garden, from the unmaintained but drivable road.  A challenge for the aching knees - left one gets fixed (replacement) on 6/23.

We had a nice storm pop up last night and run right over the house just before I got home.   We got a quick tenth of an inch which was welcome as June had been so dry so far- other than the shower yesterday morning too.

That’s what came through here. 0.14”

The basement was starting to get dry so it was appreciated.

I was in the garden yesterday and there was a hatch of black flies out there looking for victims.

Had the first baby deer fly land on me today, I would take 100 swarms of black flies over peak Deer Fly season.

Those bastards are annoying and are painful too, My issue is i swell up in the area from any bug bite so i try to avoid all of them if at all possible, Ill be out wearing sleeves today for some protection.

Black flies are the worst. Nothing deters them.  At least with deer flies you can wear a hat with tanglefoot on it that catches them and there other ways to catch them in the yard.
