Winchester (KOKV) stats for January.

29 consecutive days below 32. Only Jan 1 and 2 were not.

16 days with temps in the teens or lower.

13 days of high temps 32 or lower.

I wish I counted the mornings below 20 here. Seems like every morning in January was in the teens here. 17 degrees as I type.

Edit: 16 degrees

My information is online. I’m not keeping track of anything lol. If it wasn’t online I wouldn’t know

I know all eyes are on the precipitation, but I can’t get over what the 3km NAM is trying to do tomorrow.  It holds us all near freezing all day, while the Euro, GFS, and HRRR all take us to the upper 40s.

@MN Transplant  12z 3km NAM still has near freezing high temps for tomorrow.  6z Euro was mid-upper 40s, 6z GFS was mid 40s.

Non-expert thought:

I wonder whether this has to do with how the NAM is handling the interaction between the snowpack over the Delmarva and the near surface air and how it's handling the albedo effect. Skew-t's on the 3km NAM suggest that low clouds move in from the east overnight/pre-dawn tomorrow morning and hang around all day while none of the other models do this.

Gonna predict DCA continues the streak by hitting 32 at the 8:52pm obs with an overnight low of 28.

I still have 1” of fluffy snow in full shaded ground areas.  The cold overnights seem to prevent any melting even with a fully shaded High of 40.
it not icy nor refrozen. It’s fluffy snow

with icy patches. The fog will dissipate later this morning.

The 3km NAM flipped to a mid-40s high today with the 06z run.

It was 40 at 10 which is warmest  for time since 1/2..Tomorrow  just 2nd time since 1/2  not below  freezing and the consecutive streak ends also.

This 30 day run 1/3-2/2 is impressive but short of historic. Perhaps close to Top 20 since 1970  but unsure. Close to -4.5 during this run. We dont get a lot of that.
