made it to 10" here, still snowing pretty good...it's a sandwich of about 7" snow, 1" hard crust of frozen sleet/ice, and then 2" of snow on top.....this is going to make an AWESOME glacier for the next few days. Wonder if snowcover can hold through Christmas...... :snowman:

CONGRATS! It WILL hold thru Christmas!

This, is ONLY the beginning. This is the start of a winter that shall be long remembered in the Mid Atlantic, and torrential snows are coming soon to places that saw mix or rain today. You can Bank on it! Better Yet, Bank on Bitcoin lol! It hit 22000 today! Thats up 2500 just in the past 9 hours!

Dont forget to pile that snow up HIGH on the north side of sunlight-blocking objects like your house! Pile it super high! Make sure everyone KNOWS you worship snow!

2.3" new snow

9.3" storm total

25/24

Drifting some now

Just about identical to here. Surpassed last years totals between today and Monday's system. This was a pretty formidable storm for our parts. Great way to kick off winter.

A bit of a lull for 30 minutes with pixie dust but back to full on dendrite pours. Winds have shifted from the east to out of the north. 23 degrees.

23 where you are and 55 in OC. Crazy

I can't get an accurate measurement on the new stuff...wind is howling up on my ridge...blowing everything around.  I would guess around 9" total so far.

@HighStakes I am going to go with your measurement for the post sleet part of this storm...the wind up here is just too ferocious to get any kind of accurate measure.  You might be more sheltered down there to get a better idea.  Also...if we can get that band forming now to our SW to pivot through here in the next 2 hours we might break 10".  Definitely a good way to start the year.

Was hoping this last tiny band might squeeze out a couple snowflakes. Looks like it’s sleet. Oh well - managed to start and end the event with frozen. Much better than the total disaster scenario.

I spoke too soon! Snowing again in Arlington.

Its blowing pretty good down here too. I see the band.

7 inches with afternoon snow, then about an inch of sleet/snow mix and then about 1.5 so far of snow on top of that. Total 9.5 as of now.

Man its ripping here . Reminds me of the feb 10th 2010  when the ull energy crossed over WV and radar blew up . Good wind with that one . This will obviously be just like a 3 hour part 2 of today but on a small scale similar.

At least 3 inches new snow .

Holy shit  on the big ass  flakes just got going here.

I only got grazed by this last band and it was rather legit. Solid flake size, nice winds... probably will have added an extra tenth when it’s said and done. Definitely covered up the road again.

That was the pinnacle of my snow weenie life.  We already had 25" OTG going into that one and ended up with close to 30" in that storm.  It had everything...the first part was a crazy thump of 12" heavy wet snow in 4 hours then part 2 was hours and hours of true blizzard conditions...I remember walking around town..drifts up to roofs just marveling at a sight you never see outside alpine resorts usually.  I mean I've experienced that when I was in blizzards at Steamboat Springs, Revelstoke, and Jackson Hole...but never that combo of snow depth and blizzard conditions where I live.  Probably never will again.

Just starting to see the affects here of that band you're in now.
