Fascinating smoke effect on temps today,  as discussed by Mount Holly in the near term update:

NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 PM THIS EVENING/...
Smoke from the western wildfires continues to have an impact on
the region and is expected to remain over the forecast area
today. The SO2 GOES RGB product highlights the thickest
concentration generally from around central PA/NJ northwards.
With the lack of in person observers overnight many of the
ASOS`s are now indicating clear skies but expect that to change
with day break. In coordination with surrounding offices, we`ve
increased the forecast sky cover to reflect that conditions this
afternoon will be rather hazy although not "cloudy". The net
effect on the weather will be that temperature will not warm
quite as much as they would under typical clear sky days. So
I`ve undercut temperature guidance by around 3-5 degrees
suggesting highs this afternoon should be around 70. Normal for
mid September should have highs in the mid to upper 70s so with
the smoke aloft we`ll be below normal with relative ease even
under southerly warm air advection.

44 for a low this morning in Reisterstown. My garden is abruptly coming to an end, I'm hoping we can salvage the last of our squash this week before ending things.

The 12Z GFS has a total of 0.00" of precip here for the next 16 days.  Not sure I have seen a complete shutout on that model before.

Perfect!

Not really. It still will show no snow

Oh it will show plenty of snow for all our yards. The magnitude will be inversely related to the period of interest, i.e. game time.

It looks like southern MD and the lower eastern shore may get a decent amount of rain from the combo of the front and Sally remnants. Probably a pretty sharp gradient heading further north and west. I wouldn't mind a quarter inch or so here, which looks possible. Still reseeding/overseeing, so a bit of a break for the sprinkler.

Always nice to get some unexpected showers during the overseeding season. 6z storm track appears a little more to the NW. One more jog in that direction will save me some watering cost!

I need help. Had a friend ask me if there’s a site that would show lightning strikes for a given region for a certain month. He wants August for his area.

I didn’t know what to tell him but knew that if a site existed someone here would know. Thanks
