We need some tropical to get this smoke out of here!

At least it's high and not reducing ground level air quality.  I remember the fires in Canada back in '02 that not only turned the sky here brown but also got down to ground level.  I remember being at the exhibitors hall in Timonium and running outside because there was smoke around the overhead lighting and that familiar smell reminiscent of a building fire.

The sun was quite obscured this AM too!

LOL youre in heaven out there

It's consistently 3 or 4 degrees cooler than in town.  Not sure why.  Only 250 feet higher.  Lack of asphalt and buildings does wonders.

My spot is not a good location for t-storms unless there is an easterly component.  It literally didn't rain for a month in July.  There is a track just to my south and another to my north.  If there is westward component, then I usually get split.  If there is an east fetch, like several nights ago, then it's money out here.  Should we ever get another coastal storm in winter, it should be good times.  And the snow shouldn't get nuked immediately after.

You’re in a good spot. It didn’t rain anywhere locally during that dry period.

That 250 elevation gain is huge during the winter. You’ll see it this year.

i dont have any screens because my family is insane.  Now I have flies.

We get that because we leave the slider screen door open so the cats have access to the Catio. They like to go in and then back out. They are passed out in it now.

Coastal SE is the dream. NC Coast probably more realistic and I've looked into Wilmington, but I've heard nice things about Jax Florida.

High of 62.  Currently 55/49.  Noticing more and more leaves making the turn.  The Fall Foliage Prediction Map has the mountains as "Partial" right now - I'd probably say we're a few days from that honestly.

BTW - what a difference a year makes!  High on 9/15/19 here was 80.

Uh...am I just imagining things, or are we seeing a bit of that wildfire haze all the way over here? I mean I glanced up at the sun a few minutes ago and it did seem a little hazy...

It’s not just a little either. Aerosol optical depths around 1.

59 here.

Forecast low here is 52. That may bust high, as there is no wind and the high altitude smoke particulate should not inhibit radiational cooling much if at all. We shall see.

~100 w/m2 reduction from last year's Sept. 15th (800 to 700, both sunny days) on my VP2.
