Looks like its gonna fizzle out over me. Maybe catch the edge of it. . Bulk of it maybe aimed toward midtown, lower Manhattan. What is going on in Hoboken, Union City, to Clifton? Looks like its been stationary for 45 mins+, getting blasted.

I'm in the UWS. I haven't seen heavy, sustained rain like this in a long time. Lightning and thunder every 10-20 seconds. It looks like there's a weak couplet northwest of the city, around Paterson, where the VIL is around 45 kg/m^2. I imagine that's where the big hail is falling.

lol I am at work in NBR is it seriously dry in Piscataway?  NBR is getting pasted.

Is training the right word?  Trains move.

Think of a train running on the track, goes over the same point over and over and over...hence the term training.

Are those storms forecast to make it to Long Island?

It's unlikely.  It could rain a little but the storms will dramatically weaken if they try to push into our area.  Maybe the north shore is in the game. That's TBD though.

If this was winter the people in the subsidence would be out on the ledge.

Will be interested in all  rainfall reports 3+ today (I saw the digital storm total-tho wonder if thats a bit of hail contamination). I did see near 5" report Fox Chase PA (near PHL).  Will need to revaluate but I think what is happening Philly has decent chance of occurring here in NNJ/se NYS-NYC Wed afternoon-eve, probably less hail but maybe as much or more rain. PWAT/CAPE/KI on EC are seemingly parking here on Wed.  Anyway, 3+" rainfall reports in NY forum area, if any, are appreciated and any 5+ in se PA/s of I78. Will start a topic shortly for Due-primarily Wed.

No no I know, but I always took it to mean a progression of cells that run over the same place.  Not one cell that just sits and sits.

The development just jumped east over the Bronx likely due to some sort of outflow.  I don’t think it’ll get onto Long Island but there’s so much going on now with the outflow I wouldn’t be surprised.  I hear thunder here in Merrick almost constantly now
