February 5-7 Wintry Mess Potential

Recommended Posts

Wind picked up noticeably in the last hour or so. Big flakes have been pummeled by the wind and are much smaller. I have big picture window in my living room but it seems like storms either happen at when it’s dark or I’m not home. It’s nice being able to sit on the couch and watch the wind and snow.

Minor sagginess on my way home until a couple miles from my exit at 19. Heavy heavy drooping branches from there to home. My road is a mess of slushy sleet. Heavy sleet right now but starting to flip to snow. 31°

New snow tires on my Volvo all-wheel drive. Been dying to try them out all year. Now braking that's another story

Does that seem accurate?

Bdl record low pressure set for February. 970.2

Had a huge temp spike from 34F to 48F here that took about 10 minutes and that also only lasted literally like 3-5 minutes....already dumping back to 45F.

Really gusty out of the S briefly and now WSW.

Just pounding right now in the tail of the comma head. Easily 1.5-2" per hour with 2-3" new OTG! Likely a strong orographic response assisting the snowfall rates as well.

I had 1/2" of ice accretion so the trees are creaking and stressed in the increasing wind. Temperature briefly spiked to 32.1° F as changeover to snow was occurring around 2 PM.

The HRRR did show a brief flip to snow in southern New Hampshire on some runs

I wasn't even paying attention. I figured I was in for a day of prolonged mist.

Yeah... I looked out the window and it was snowing here in Ayer out of nowhere... but I wasn't exactly paying attention to the progress of this thing, either.

The sun is also out while that was happening, making for a bizarre impression.
