Damage In Tolland

Potential biggest severe outbreak of the Summer

Recommended Posts

looks like there is a mini cell heading right towards Winni coming from the west

Lots of 55 dbz pixels and one 60 at 1:25, looks to arrive about 1:50-2:00, depending on where one is on the lake.

What's that link to the UMASS Amherst radar?

Funny you should ask... we moved the radar down to TX last year as was mentioned but yesterday morning we had the crane on site and installed a new phase-spin radar in the same location. Of course we didn't have time to get it up for today :axe:

Link will eventually be the same. The scanning will be a little different however. There will still be ppi views on the google maps page, but we can do instantaneous RHI cuts. Need to work on how to display those in a usable fashion. FWIW the latest version of AWIPS2 will display our data, though not sure about RHIs.

At any rate the cell popped a little NE of Amherst and over N Quabbin. Huge cauliflower cumulus but we didn't have a great view of the low levels with higher ground to our east. This line coming in may give us a decent gust out ahead however.

Looks like those that missed out this AM action is making up for it. Nice!

Wish I was better with dual pol other than for finding when it's going to change to rain at home.

Looks line storms are merging with a nice line with bowing segments coming together over WMASS possibly extending INTO NW CT.

It's coming together. Man are we banging today. Fun to watch even if I miss.

Eh' best is going to miss well S. of here towards Whately and N Hadley.

I just looked at the radar and was about to post the same thing.  It still gave me an excuse to cut my run short.

Breeze picking up a little though.  We'll still get a little rain.

Nice look on dual pol with the ORH Co storm. Maybe tennis balls from that thing.

It's really, really close to the 65 dBZ to 30 kft baseball hail threshold.
