I hope this isn't a preview of summer. I'm just tired of these wild temperature swings. I'd much rather have it be one consistent temperature, whether it be the 90s, 80s, or heck, even 70s. But I can't do it if we're going to have runs in the 100s this summer, only to be followed by temps in the 50s soon thereafter.

The euro is absolutely horrendous.   Hope that changes.

It'll be closer to a nothing burger by then since that's usually what happens as events draw closer.
I can see it turning out windy and raw with on and off light rain, similar to last week, but not much appreciable precipitation, which will still suck for Memorial Day.

Once we get to June its pretty rare to have highs below 70

That's been the trend all spring.  The only appreciable rain we've really seen was the 5/9 event and maybe something else in April.

I expected the temperature swings to be done by now. I haven't seen a spring as bipolar as this one (I wonder if it's due to there being a really cold winter and the ocean temps are cold), and I'm starting to worry it will bleed into summer. We've had 80 degree days followed by 30 degree ones, 90 degree days followed by 40 degree ones, and now 95 degree days followed by 50 degree ones.

We desperately need the rain but I'd hate to see most of the holiday weekend ruined. I'm hoping for 2 out of the 3 days being not too bad. It's possible that Saturday ends up being the very rainy day with improvement for Sunday and Monday. It would still be cloudy and cool but hopefully dry enough for cooking outside. I wouldn't mind a soaking on Saturday but not too bad for Sunday and Monday, which some model runs have been showing. But of course there's still the risk of 2 out the 3 days being rainy -- a long way to go to figure it out.

Anyway this is rough having this type of heat right now with it being so dry. The vegetable garden needs a lot of water.

doubt the city will be under 70 for a morning low looks like the so called backdoor front will have zero effect for the city forecast high is 90 for central park on monday..

I'm probably gonna hit 94 or 95 today which is a few degrees hotter than yesterday. Gonna have to go pretty far east for that advertised cooldown today with the backdoor front.

Disaster for Memorial Day weekend

Well 12z GFS shows what I was talking about. A big soaking Saturday into Saturday night to help with the drought, but it gets it out of the way for Sunday and would be fine for Sunday afternoon cookouts. Hopefully it'll work out that way.

So we just need to string together a few 115s

Look on the bright side.  We are only about 30 days away from the latest sunset and then we will SLOWLY start going the other way.  The hole is almost dug and we will soon starting filling it in.

Thankfully peak heating doesn't kick in until well after the solstice :)
