4,700 SBCAPE on the 18z sounding, but the convective temp is 88 degrees. With this thick cirrus shield in place at peak heating, I doubt we get enough sunshine to reach this. Perhaps south of US 50 and the eastern shore, as @wxmeddleralluded to works out, but this is shaping up to be an ugly bust here in the metros.

Ugh.  What a waste of awesome CAPE if it can't be realized.

I do not like the mid-level anvil precip to our W.  How often do sig storms fire when that is already in place?

I don't like seeing that east-west line to our south at all.

We're in a dead zone for sure. I've given up on severe for today. I'd be happy sitting on my porch watching a steady rain. Unfortunately that doesn't look great either. I'm so tired of boring weather. I'd be happy if my roof got ripped off by a tornado at this point.

Some of us are just happy for the rain

But this is the severe storm thread where people root for damaging winds, hail, a spin up tornado or 2.. as long as its not in their yards. B)

I like general gusty storms with heavy rain and T&L and the chance to get a photo of a shelf cloud. Probably have at least 10 in my 'collection'.

I mean - my rational side says that all the junk around is going to lessen our threat substantially - but the Morgantown cell plus that one entering WV from OH does have me intrigued as those are heading in our general direction.

The other thing to consider is that cell @yoda mentioned is in an area and continuing ito areas that the blob of precip has been impacting...so if it holds/intensifies it could be a good indicator for downstream. My only concern is that by the time that stuff shifts closer, we will be well beyond peak heating. We will have to rely on better forcing to continue the threat. Though....it does remain QUITE soupy out there.

If we are at the coping stage, at least the atmosphere isn't "worked over" by the time the later round gets here.
