Ok then like 10 mi north of BOS. e northern extent of the good stuff was overpredicted the 24-48hrs before the storm, no question about that. You know what I'm saying

True. Models were not good at predicting this particular storm never mind the storm 3 weeks ago. And I got more snow in the storm 3 weeks ago.

that western band while not what the fire hose has produced, has certainly made this area eventful, feel sorry for some of the CTRV folk who wound up with less than 10", my buddy in E.longmeadow said 7/8", I think that's low, because wilbraham had 12 like 3 hours ago but who knows, i averaged just over 15, still lightly snowing and about to get after it.

Wilbraham might have gotten in on some banding. I'm only thinking 7-8 here in Springfield very close to both Longmeadows

It's okay to be disappointed, and put it down in words here.  It's the tone that matters.

I feel bad that the storm was not as prolific for others as it could have been.  That being said, there's always winners and losers in these big storms.  It's rare that everyone wins because what produces the snow on the north west side of these storms is banding, and it's almost impossible to have bands that cover our entire region to make everyone a winner.  It truly is like going to the casino - only a few are going to jackpot. Usually for my area to win, somewhere else has just cashed in their last snow chip without a good return.

At the end of the day, it's just weather, and we aren't in control of it.  It's nice we see all four seasons in New England.  I can't imagine, even when I get a 20" winter, living somewhere where you don't get the variety of weather you get here.

This wasn't just about banding, though....the storm shifted south.

Won't hold a candle to 78 regionally....only grazed the area compared to that one. The 75 mile slip south killed that.

We may not see another blizzard of 78 in our lifetime.  It's like the hurricane of 1938 of winter storms.  The way that low tucked in and then closed off and stalled - yet all the other pieces fell into place in 1978 seems to have not come close to have been replicated since then.

Today if we see a low that close to us on the models, we're thinking where is the mixing line going to setup!

Same....I alienate my family for days in the lead up to these things....up until 6AM doing a map that I just wiped my ass with, but that doesn't change how brutal it is to listen to/read....we've have both whined plenty already.....I suggest you do what I did and just remove yourself. I saw the writing the wall and passed out at 330 am and didn't look back. Let other people enjoy it.

I think postmortem snow reports will reveal that there were a lot of have nots.

What the south east coast is getting is surreal.

My only real disappointment is that I did invest/waste a lot of time Saturday night and yesterday tracking. I should’ve known better Saturday night when the mesos really cut back RT 2 corridor.

Maybe I should’ve chased to Falmouth, but I don’t think their totals are gonna be obscene and I’d be sitting down there without power right now.

1:15pm measurement. 1.0” new. 20.8” total. It’s been mostly light snow or even just flurries since 8:30ish. A little bit steadier for the past hour or so.

.

Very nice pal. Congratulations.  13” up this way.  Not the best…but still a good storm with the wind and blizzard conditions. That was enjoyable.

Official NWS observation at the airport.

OK. That's Warwick, even though it's "PVD" or "KPVD" by code. Providence will be a little lower amount at the moment. Still amazing.

I can't find the website for it but will get there.

Only found this:

https://www.weather.gov/wrh/timeseries?site=kpvd

That would be 37" on the ground in Warwick. I believe 5" was already there.

I can confirm that here. Every time it looks like it's letting up just keeps pounding. We're easily over 2 feet. I have no doubt we hit 30. Street is not passable. Over 18 inches on it. Governor talking about using pay loaders to clear the streets just like 78. This may not rival that here but won't be to far behind!

My daughter is in Narragansett and the roads have not been touched. She's got to be closing in on 30" or so, but that's just a WAG based on radar returns.

Moderate snow right now here 23F. Even at the lower end of predictions here we have well over 2 feet otg. It's a beautiful winter scene out there. Msybe a little more during th4 week and perhaps more than a little more early next week after a mild weekend. Not too shabby as March comes in, especially after a few lean years. I'm playing my grateful card.

Picture taken a couple hours ago another inch or two in moderate snow since. Don't expect a whole lot more now.

snowing really good again here.. this winter has been awesome!

it's rippin again here as well. That thin band 50-60W of BOX stretching from W of ORH to MHT is keeping us in the game with moderate snow. Pales in comparison to SE MA and RI. lol

Working from home today. This storm is pretty decent…first classic nor’easter in a long while. Periodic bands moving through with some good gusts. No idea what has fallen but measured around 5 inches this morning. Enjoy those getting a shellacking unless you have to drive. 23/22
