I have strong suspicion that they might as this point, they've been sitting under that band for at least a couple hours since the last observation plus it seems there is a bit of a westward expansion/extension right around PVD's latitude. Then you have all of the backside deformation/etc. to go as the storm continues lifting NE.

Official measurement coming from the airport at 1:00. Local mets are thinking 25 when it comes out! I'm 8 miles north north west of there. Just went out to clear a path in the back yard for my little creamy Shiba. My Cub Cadet 3 X 26 auger housing is 21" high. Snow was average 4 to 5 " above it. Most of it is powder type. The first 3" was wet but once it started hammering temp dropped quick and all powder from that point on! 25 degrees currently.

Cory, I'm as frustrated as anyone, but at the end of the day, you have to have a modicum of insight and recognize how insufferable you are...you know it's bad coming from me, one of the staunchest IMBY weenies there is.

How am I supposed to enjoy 6-12 everywhere when people next to me have 24?  After Missing the SWFE and getting screwed in every other storm this winter and NOT seeing 20” since 2015?

What am I SUPPOSED to do Ray.  Smile?  This is my enjoyment in life.  Not Drugs.  Not Drinking.  IT’S Big Snowstorms.

Same....I alienate my family for days in the lead up to these things....up until 6AM doing a map that I just wiped my ass with, but that doesn't change how brutal it is to listen to/read....we've have both whined plenty already.....I suggest you do what I did and just remove yourself. I saw the writing the wall and passed out at 330 am and didn't look back. Let other people enjoy it.

I mean they reported 33 inches on the ground (+28 change) last hour. I don't see how they haven't recorded over 29" of snow for this event. The 1978 is "only" 28.6".

Is the +28 a SNINCR remark?

Some people even north just of Boston have a about a foot of snow already from the storm.

Ok then like 10 mi north of BOS. The northern extent of the good stuff was overpredicted the 24-48hrs before the storm, no question about that. You know what I'm saying

How do you access this? It's not in the "Now" data on the NWS site.

I actually can't myself. I know GYX has internal documents we keep of the top 10 lists, I know BOX has similar. But that's what I mean about them not being digitized. Without asking BOX directly, you can't really search on your own.

Snow started in Halifax about an hour ago. No real transition from flurries, to light snow to rippage - it went from nothing to near white out in 5 minutes.

Most of the models had us only seeing 6-8 inches but I don’t think there’s any way we don’t bust high.

Congrats to all of you down there who are getting slammed! I will be thrilled if we see half of what most of you guys seems to be getting.

Full on blizzard down here in Shelburne county. Drifts are to the windows of my house already.

If you don't end up at around 24" then it's only because you don't have a good spot to measure.  Your location wasn't in the middle of the death band but you have several consecutive hours of 30 dbz stuff on radar, and some parts of the heavy band made it your way.  I've got two personal reports of around 2 feet in Cumberland area from friends.  Plus we have the reports from Attelboro, and I have a friend in Smithfield reporting two feet to the west of you.  There was no prolific snow hole over your house.  Even if we knock a few inches off due to drifting, there's a good chance that this number verifies.

It's seriously time to relax now and enjoy what you got.  We already have enough things giving RI a bad name, and your whining on this thread is insufferable.  You don't know how many times I've had friends in the northern and western parts of the state with significantly more snow than my own backyard.  There's 50,000 people with no power in the state, that may not get it back for a couple of days, and you're complaining you didn't get 40" on top of your fake fucking mountain.  Seriously, get a hold of yourself, and at least melt with some world championship worthy dignity.

Are you putting snowstorm whinning in the same category as the Brown Shooting and the Pawtucket hockey shooting?

Yikes.

I thought you guys would have done better...

Yup, me too.  It looked very impressive, but the big banding kept just missing, or we’d just catch the edge of them.   Bad fortune is all. Too bad. Above average already for the entire winter, so we take.

My dog just hops through the drifts like a bunny rabbit, she's a bigger snow weenie than me.

A 3 footer at an official obs site for a major city would be insane, and I think that's becoming pretty likely.

This may make it number 1 all time.  I believe 1978 was around 27.

Depends upon where the report comes from. In 1978 If it was recorded in Warwick 28.6", North Providence 31.0", and the North Central Airport, 35.0".

Gusts have to be pushing 45-50 here. Hell, even just saw a snowtornado

Bunch of snow blew off the neighbors roof and developed into a rotating column of snow. Dissipated when it hit the house next to it.

Too bad there wasn't a hair more SBCAPE to really get it going.
