Those things are explosive. Bet it sounded like a cannon when it went off.

Yeah, it did. Scared the crap out of me. It was about 3/4's closed when it blew, so it exploded and dropped like a boulder. I unlocked it from the trolly, but then I found out for the first time how heavy garage doors really are. I wonder if it was temp related, or I just have bad luck timing wise.

Lol, you need to learn how to measure. It’s impossible you have a 6.1” total even if you’re at the bottom of the Inner Harbor.

Lol you could infer that I’m measuring snow depth. Look at the Montebello and Towson Mesonet sites. I am in lock step with them.

Surprising seeing all of the reports of rapid warmup to the north. The cold is holding strong in Charlottesville, we've been floating around 21 for the past 1.5 hrs.

Mix of sleet and freezing drizzle with this last hurrah band

Cold temps sure don't help.  Makes metal more brittle.  How old was the spring?

Imagine if they didn't have restraining cables threaded through them.  Those are lifesaving devices that most people don't give a second thought to until one of them explodes.

Currently 23, which is the high here in Burke for the day. Still sleeting.

i haven’t made a serious measurement, to be honest, but sleet has been ongoing for 10 hours now and we have probably had 4” of sleet in that time (compaction doesn’t help, of course).

A good way to determine the impact is the piles I just shoveled…they rival any of the piles I’ve made outside of our biggest storms since 2009. Really Impressive.

9” and counting. Figured I had no chance at double digits when I flipped to sleet around 830-9am, but maybe? Lol. Already 3” of sleet. Bonkers. It’s turning into big chunks when you try and shovel it. Temp has jumped up past 24 in the last hour.
