Scared the crap out of me. It was about 3/4's closed when it blew, so it exploded and dropped like a boulder. I unlocked it from the trolly, but then I found out for the first time how heavy garage doors really are. I wonder if it was temp related, or I just have bad luck timing wise. bncho
I wonder where this ranks on the NESIS scale. Apparently the number of counties under a winter storm warning was the highest ever recorded, at least, according to Wikipedia.

It’s impossible you have a 6.1” total even if you’re at the bottom of the Inner Harbor. Lol you could infer that I’m measuring snow depth. Look at the Montebello and Towson Mesonet sites. I am in lock step with them.

TSG
Surprising seeing all of the reports of rapid warmup to the north. The cold is holding strong in Charlottesville, we've been floating around 21 for the past 1.5 hrs. Imagine if they didn't have restraining cables threaded through them. Those are lifesaving devices that most people don't give a second thought to until one of them explodes.

bncho
What is this, 2" QPF? Would've been a monster if it were 150 miles south. Oh well—how can I complain about this historic sleetfest? Plus, we gotta lotta chances coming up!

dailylurker
Question for the smarter fokes. When does the low pressure develop enough to bring our winds around to the north and drop out temps back. I don't like rising temps.

IUsedToHateCold
Another 0.5" of sleet. Still all sleet coming down heavily. 5.5" of snow and 4.0" inch of sleet (which probably contains some snow). 9.5" total Noticed that the sleet I just shoveled was higher water content, so I'm pretty sure part of my previous sleet measurement was also snow. No ZR yet.

mattie g
Currently 23, which is the high here in Burke for the day. Still sleeting. i haven’t made a serious measurement, to be honest, but sleet has been ongoing for 10 hours now and we have probably had 4” of sleet in that time (compaction doesn’t help, of course). A good way to determine the impact is the piles I just shoveled…they rival any of the piles I’ve made outside of our biggest storms since 2009. Really Impressive. WxUSAF
9” and counting. Figured I had no chance at double digits when I flipped to sleet around 830-9am, but maybe? Lol. Already 3” of sleet. Bonkers. It’s turning into big chunks when you try and shovel it. Temp has jumped up past 24 in the last hour.
