All sleet now aa rates lightened up. That last band was legit, dropped another inch in a an hour even with low ratios/mix.

Just spent about two hours enjoying the weather. It has been a battle between sleet and snow that whole time. Currently more of just a real pixie type snow than actual sleet. Just about 5.5 inches when I shoveled the driveway. Still accumulating though.

Been out sledding with the kids in a 21 degree sleet bomb, this has been really fun.

Longtime lurker and periodic poster. My location is 495/LRTurnpike. Could someone tell me what is falling out of the sky at my house? Is it frozen sleet, ice pellets, or rimed snowflakes?

Well, in a way yes, but if these rates go thru your area I've had for last two hours, it is interesting.

5.5" in Smithsburg. About 5 miles from the M/D line in Eastern Washington county.

The Euro has consistently given us 12" + for several days. Not sure if we can hit that #  but if we hold on for another 3 to 4 hours I might get close.

The most disappointing thing about sleet is how it destroys your snow measurement.  Had 3.5” fluff at7am…down to 3” of sand now.  Couple more hours of sleetfest 2026 and hopefully I can report 5” to LwX…pouring down sleet.  Neighbor kids went out to play in it,  they lasted about 3 minutes after determining that they couldn’t make snowballs or a snowman, and the stuff hurts!  Sledding will be epic tomorrow though! Even our dog Thunder, who loves snow wanted nothing to with this crap!  Fastest trip out to pee in years.  Temp 16.

I want 2”+ of sleet. Hell give me a quarter inch of ice too. My business already had to close today.
