The GFS comes in very similar to it's 18Z run: "The cave is starting!"

The EURO comes in much flatter and colder and looks a lot more like the GFS WRT snow totals: "EURO pretty much a hold."

The clutching of narratives is weird, man.

Hey, we could all see a rug pull tomorrow, a joyous trend to colder and snowier, or anything in between, but the model analysis tonight has been poor.

For sure the 00z suite was a small win, but people are really searching for a huge shift south to recover all our losses. It’s like gambling to cover loses.

fortran has to be the single most underrated language of all time. It's the perfect mix of low-level enough to do resource management and easy enough to not require someone who is purely a software engineer. And I say this as someone who grew up with python, matlab and c++ lol

Well said. When I worked at Naval Research and Development (DTNSRDC) in Carderock, Md. we had heavy duty computer power (4 Control Data Corp. mainframes plus one from Burroughs Corp.) The "software people" were the systems analysts who maintained the computers while the actual users (the "programmers,") were scientists and engineers who used FORTRAN's powerful mathematics simply as a tool of their trade.

At least the closer to game time you get, the smaller the jumps will be. 36 hours out the you’re usually locked in on a likely solution give or take

I want to apologize for a few unhinged post lol. The transition from clean storm to dirty storm was frustrating. Now that were settling into it I'm getting excited for heavy snow and dumping sleet. I had to do a little self reflection this morning to clean up my perspective on this. LFG!

Go for a hike out at bacon and enjoy getting pelted by sleet in the eye balls

Apple weather still saying 20” Sunday. Where the hell is this coming from? Does the entire field a huge disservice cause it’s been saying 20”+ all freaking week and it’s not happening.

It’s the reason people were freaking out about this three or four days ago. Well, that and social media computer models being shared.

You did uncharacteristically unravel for a minute tho.  But glad to see you reeled it in.  It’s gonna be ok.   We all need to be at the acceptance stage.  We can find a way to turn an epic sleet bomb fun.   What other choice do we have?

What’s funny is I hear people always say weather people are never right. Yet they think 1-2ft is coming lol. The problem is any Joe Shmoe has access to the models now and they post the most ridiculous ones snow map on their “weather” page and say a big storm is coming. It also doesn’t help when pro Mets that should know better also post this nonsense to their pages.

Yup. Now that I got that out of the ole system I'm ready to do this. This looks like an pretty unusual and interesting storm. At the end of the day that's what I'm about. I'm excited to get pelted in the face with ice while hiking on Sunday. I'm actually planning a midnight to dawn hike Saturday night. I've got an extra head lamp and joint for you lol. LFG!

For those of us who still use a snow shovel, what strategy will you employ. I was originally hoping to clear the snow snow once or twice during the event, but now with the potential for heavy sleet cemented together with a little zr I’m leaning toward waiting until it’s over. Any thoughts?
