Beautiful day today! This is the kind of sunny, warm’ish day I remember as a kid that happened the day before a modest 2-4” snow. I miss those.

Might be here, lol. Was 23.9 for a low, currently 49.6 at 1:20 pm. What we HAVE succeeded in is another 'windy' day, already had a 26 WSW wind at 12:13 pm. Currently W at 11 gusting 19 mph. Amazing that the forecast at 7 am said nothing about winds until late afternoon when they 'may increase to 7-12 mph', fail. I still say we could have a 1050 high right overhead and still manage a 25-30 mph wind gust somehow.

50s in January is pretty common here - this isn't northern New England.

I was about to contradict you, but nope, you're right. This is the stats for every January 13th in the last 30 years at DCA. 60% of all Jan 13th's (since 1996) have been at or above 50.

Air Florida disaster 44 years ago today.  Heavy snow and inane deicing  policies and a great snow day turned horrid

yeah - it's definitely within one standard deviation when the mean high temp is 44-45F.

speaking of 50s - temp is rising here, in the low 50s now.

For what feels like the 300th time since Christmas we had a non-diurnal temp event here overnight. Temp was 33.0 at 10 pm, then slowly climbed to the current 36.4/25.8 at 7 am. In and out of clouds overnight, windy/gusty SW winds after midnight (28 mph gust).

We're at 39 degrees latitude.  With next to no elevation.  It's kind of surprising it ever snows at all.

My google photos showed me this snow memory from this date in 2019; IIRC it was a fun little storm that dropped a strip that jackpotted DC, but northern areas did poorly. I have memory of like 6" in my area. It came down heavy in the late afternoon on the 13th of January, I think. Don't remember synoptics nor do I have a snow map.

Quick question. That line of precip to my N is that going to drop down here at any time. I am getting changes minute by minute and I need to know if the horses I am caring for can go out until I come back later this afternoon.

Thanks! I sat in my car and just looked at the clouds to the North and decided that everything would stay to the North. I guessed correctly.

Well, well, well. Would you look at that, the wind is back, shocking! Currently 35.8/27.9 with WNW 11 gusting 24 mph. Had a shower a while ago, but maybe 0.01 to 0.02 fell.
