I remember Dec 89 being really cold, hoped for a great winter, didn't happen. I was in Central Mass at the time.

Yeah Dec 89 was brutal the entire month. The first 30 days at CON were 8 BN or colder. The last day was +2. Of course Jan went on to be warm.

It’s so bright outside.

3/-8

Also feels like the surface of the moon.

When I had a rooster, I had a few overnights like this with fresh pack where he would start crowing after midnight because it was so bright.

Logan was 47kts earlier. It’s freaking ripping.

KBOS METARS tell the story:

KBOS 042354Z 30017G32KT 10SM -SN SCT033 BKN049 OVC070 M02/M11
KBOS 050054Z 29026G47KT 10SM FEW060 M03/M21 A3012
KBOS 050154Z 31018G34KT 10SM FEW060 M04/M19 A3015

Squall comes through, dewpoint drops from 12˚F to -6˚F with the 47KT gusts, and then rises as it slackens off a bit.

I live under the departure path for RWY 33 and can't really tell if the noise I'm hearing is the wind or the aircraft. It's a mixture of both.

3/-8 here.  -1F at 1,500ft and -10F at 3,600ft.

Got a halftime walk in. You know it’s cold when condensation from your breath is freezing on your face.

-3.6° and -14.6 WC with a pesky light wind. It’s -11 to my north where there is no wind.

Subtract almost 12 degrees from your temp, and St Agatha(-4F) is really making ice too.

We need to freeze it up LFG!

My first below zero of the season. Went up to Plattsburgh, NY to check out a couple sleds and a trailer I’m thinking of buying and it was pretty brutal with the wind. It was 7° on the ferry crossing back to VT.

Nothing will probably compare again to my morning classes at LSC in the dead of winter where the first physical sign of extreme cold was all the snot in my nose instantly freezing up after just stepping outside. I’m not keen on experiencing that again for as long as I’m around!
