GFS op is cold to start March. Anafront snow for Ray to enjoy.

GFS has been just frustratingly abstinent to it's own ens mean, both the numerical teleconnection/implication, and the spatial synoptic.

Maybe it'll be right.

The GGEM - fwiw - is really starting to balloon it's eastern ridge more into what said tele's imply it could.  I've seen these do this over the years since the 'heat burst' phenomenon become something we have to start including into the manifold of shit we deal with, and as that time nears...that 576 dm ( impressive enough ) slowly ticks to 582.

Or not...but I'm just saying the signals support waaaaaay more than the operational GFS has yet to even once take advantage of.

Obviously it wont happen but It would be pretty cool to see that March hurricane off the east coast that the GFS has had for a couple of runs. Its much more impressive to get something to form in February/March than January or April, since those months have had a handful of storms but February and March have only had one each.

I was about 15miles north , in Auburn MA yesterday.  Plenty of guys on the pond fishing.  Some places have it, and some dont.

8" everywhere in N ORH above 1000'. Should be more this time of year, to be honest.

I remember back in the 70s shoveling off over a foot of snow them chopping through almost 2 feet of ice, even the years with little snow the ice was pretty thick, used to like it that was because we fished with skates on.

Very strange looking map for mid Feb

was actually driving through "interior" Upper Cape today and you can tell the differences in depth. Areas like Forestdale/ South Sandwich/Marston Mills have a few more inches of depth than where I live, closer to the ocean. Those 8"+ reports were legit in those areas. Had about 6" here, but depth is down to 2-3" in shaded areas, and some bare spots where the sun hits

That will happen on our lifetimes as will 80 degrees in SNE in Jan/ Feb like DC did. Maybe not in 5 years.. but it’s coming

Cheer up, if we warm that quickly, it will speed up the disruption of the thermohaline circulation cycles.  Then you will be on your way to those truly legendary winters of yore for which you long.
