What I find impressive is how it all wraps together to make this is a very anomalous event. Toronto is most likely going to go 8 days, maybe 9 days with over 1cm on the ground reported at the airport in a row. Which is crazy for November.

Just a small 0.3" snowfall today.

I've had four snow events already, totaling 11.4".  That's rare enough.  Even more odd, all four systems were all snow from the start.  This early in the season, if we get any snow at all, we often start with rain and then change to snow.

Even this moderation is still well below normal. Hope I find a window to get the leaves up, and the remainder of the patio furniture in.

Just some MKE stats for you guys...

Today is the sixth day in the last eight in which the high temperature failed to get above 30F.

As of yesterday's climo report, we are running a remarkable -12.7F  departure for the month.

On Tuesday, our high of 19F shattered the record for lowest high temperature for the date by 4F.

Also on Tuesday, we tied the record low for the date of 9F producing a -27 departure for the day.

We have received 7.2" of snow through the first two weeks of the month, not sure where that ranks though.

Base pattern looks pretty cool.  Best bet for "warmth" would probably be out ahead of any system cutting northwest.

As I am building a house right now and need some settling to occur, I am fully in support of some temp swings. Need my backfill you settle in.

Felt almost balmy at 36 today. Funny how a few days of cold alters our perception.

In Chicago, the mean temperature was 31.2° for November 1-15. That was the coldest first half of November on record in Chicago. The previous record was 31.4°, which was set in 1991. Records go back to 1872.

The winter of 1991-92 (Dec-Feb) ended up sucking in Chicago.

Above normal temps and only 14.5 inches of snow.

There was actually not much less snow in March (11.6") than in that entire Dec-Feb period.  Also got off to a much slower start at ORD that year with only 1.2" through November.  ORD currently has 8.3" with half the month to go.

Seems odd,  when the leaves litter the fresh white snow on the  ground. Day 5 of sustained snow on the ground and still have grass hydroseeding to complete for the city.

For Detroit the 1st half or November was by far the coldest 1st half of November on record. The previous record, 1976, was 1.2゚ warmer. Also the 9.5" was the snowiest 1st half of November on record as well. Our week long Winter wonderland is also a record, and even though the ground is starting to suck up the snow, I notice that while the depth on the grass is around 3", elevated surfaces still have closer to 6".
