Clear as ever around 8 this morning. Just looked out my window at the hill to the west - smoke is back.

My total rainfall yesterday was 2.18" along with several close lightning strikes in the evening storm. My July total is 6.46".

I suspect we’ll be in and out of the smoke for at least a few weeks until the Canadian fires diminish.

Another big plume coming down from Canada. Western PA and Ohio back to Code Orange.

That's over where my parents live... my mom said the traffic light was out at Lake Waterford Park. Yeah, most of the damage was north / east of MD100 / MD10.

There was quite blue skies this morning, but it's gotten progressively worse as the day goes on. Smoke and haze.

I certainly didn’t have any problems with the smell outside this morning but it definitely still looked very hazy to me, even at ground level.

I think we’ve had that convo before, how close our parents are  

And that makes sense. My sister’s house off Edwin Raynor, north of 100 and Mountain Road, had a lot more damage with down trees and such.

A beautiful afternoon at the lake. Partly cloudy skies and 70/65. Smoke from earlier seems to be clearing. 
 

Heading into the 50s tonight and heading to the fairgrounds to see the Garrett County drone show for America’s 250th.

And now it's three quarters to one inch. No idea why they constantly do this knowing the scattered nature of how we get rain in the summer. Tomorrow morning it will be a quarter to a half, or 'tenth of an inch or less except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms', which should always be the default unless a stratiform/widespread general rain is expected.

Yeah after the last two years I don't even care if it snows down here this winter , I'm just fine with noreaster after noreaster of 40F and rain (I'll change my tune in December).

IIRC, any forecast beyond D3 now is straight AI/auto generated with minimal input from forecasters. If I am wrong, someone please correct me.

Fairly certain there is still a human element involved that can adjust the output from their use of AI/ML

I would say that is pretty pathetic and lazy if we were in normal times, but knowing what we know, I suppose it is understandable.

Human forecasters act as the ultimate decision-makers in formulating a forecast. 

AI and advanced computer modeling are certainly incorporated into the process but humans provide oversight to any and all forecasts.

Absolutely comical split to basically whiff our area - light rain for 45 minutes. That has happened so much this spring and summer - not sure why but it has been happening a lot.
