66.8/49.3 at 2:30 pm with cloudy skies on ENE breezes. Had some sprinkles about two hours ago and looks like some heavier/moderate is on the way glancing at radar from the north.

EDIT- number flipper strikes again, 66.8 was the temp. Currently raining (fairly hard) and 59.5/53.5 at 4 pm with a north 11 gusting 26 mph breeze..

Really dont find it odd or eerie at all. Weather often has a history of being very similar. Case in point, last year the weather went to shit the week of commencement for the naval academy. Same thing happened this year. Doesnt seem like anything special.

Posts like that from CWG are disappointing. They feed a false narrative that [insert thing or secret organization here] are controlling the weather. They should know better than that.

Its the same group that gets on their soapbox about school closing decisions so nothing surprises me.

We got smacked again tonight by a complex of storms that dumped another inch of rain on Buda !

Now we are up to 22 inches on the year. Normal is 30 inches for the entire year. We are just stackin 'em, rackin' em and packin' em in every time we turn around! The line starts at the Mississippi and everyone better take a number! With another disturbance forming in the Gulf of Mexico, and a Brobdingnagian El Nino intensifying, I think this summer could end up being like 2021, 2014 and 2015 and 2007.

This is becoming surrealistic. Usually places like Dallas, TX and WinStar Casino in Oklahoma are at 6 inches above us here in Buda. This year it is inverted. Buda is 6-7 inches ahead of Dale City. It's absolutely unheard of! I want that Super Nino SO BAD! I want feet and feet of rain all year!

Incredible nighttime temp disparities last night. Bittinger mesonet site in Garrett County dipped to 38 degrees, while Frostburg only got down to 51. Further east, the urban heat island effect was very evident in Baltimore. Towson cooled to 50 degrees, while Baltimore City's Montebello station only drifted down to 61.

The US Drought Monitor failed miserably again this morning. This is typical of a government entity that sucks up dollars and spits out crap.

Augusta- Severe and Extreme Drought..  It does not exist..

US Drought Monitor is a contracted service with the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with decades of AG experience. The composite for the area has actually shown improvement from week to week after the last period of rainfall leading to a downgrade in category from Extreme to Severe at a higher prevalence. The top soil layer is only part of the equation and it takes more than 5-7" of rain to combat a persistent deep layer soil moisture pitfall. It took a step in the right direction this go around compared to what has been occurring. I can tell you don't like government bodies by this response and I for one have issues with some government entities as well because I want to hold governments at all levels to a higher standard, however the work done from top to bottom in this industry is critical in maintaining a positive report with the AG industry which spans far and wide across the U.S. This group is consistently praised by the decision-makers at large and anecdotal evidence from a small part of a bigger picture does not represent the entire story. We can agree to disagree, but I thought the map made sense from all the data I have parsed, which I do on the daily while I'm on the job.

I closely observe the Drought Monitor weekly and have given credibility to its assessment until May 200% of rainfall in Augusta and the 310 ft. water table returning from - 15 to - 2.  This Drought Monitor measure is completely wrapped up in government bureaucracy as the Va. DEQ said last week that the drought continues because "groundwater levels are much below normal".    What a joke!   They have increased from minus 21 in February to minus 2 in May.

I can't rely on the Drought Monitor or DEQ....   I will rely on my own assessments in the future.

Thanks Very Much  for your interest!!!
