CAPE
This winter was impressively cold overall, but some/much of that cold was wasted. Some areas did well with frozen precip opportunities wrt climo, others not so much. Time to grade it.

Chris78
I've got to go D+ for my yard. Only 60% of climo snowfall and the 5th year in a row of sub 20" Seasonal snowfall. Which was unheard of until the last 5 years, Going all the way back to 1899 when records started at HGR. Sad run of winters honestly for Northern and western areas. dailylurker
A Third season in a row with climo snow and an extended period of cold. This winter was really cool. Lots of really memorable experiences related to ice. I also spent 5 days on the Tug Hill getting clobberd by LES. I also chased the coastal blizzard in February. I spent that storm in Harrington Delaware.
Stormchaserchuck1
C+/B-. I don't like dry and cold, which it was a lot. The 11" storm sticking around for a month was awesome though. The other 4 months were meh. I think it only snowed (flurries or more) 11 times. Edit: the early Dec storm overperformed and I got 7"! Loved that one, there were 20+ flashes of green lightning. IronTy
A- in Calvert. 6ft, 200lbs and I was able to jump up and down on top of the snow without breaking through for almost a month straight. B- at the cabin near DCL. One stretch had decent snow on the ground but relative to normal up here I was underwhelmed. C at the place in DC. People forgot how to pick up their dog's crap when there was snow on the ground so all the snowcrete was covered with dog shit much of the time.
MN Transplant
B+. A blockbuster winter storm followed by about as cold of a streak as we can muster. Just a shame it didn’t snow more.
WEATHER53
The snowcrete lasting 3 weeks 3.5 days at my house, the bitter low 20’s highs 5-10F windy lows, all three months below average temps, and 3/4 minor events . The only thing absent was a 10”+ biggie or 3/4 minors/moderate that gave us 4-6 instead of 1-4 An A- for me
Terpeast
Solid B. It was a frustrating tracking season for the most part, but the last two snows in March really lifted us. The snowcrete storm and month long snowcover was what made the winter, and we stat-padded our way to median climo. Also, mby got at least 2” for each of the 4 winter months. CAPE
It snowed in D,J,F,M. Brutal cold period after the glacier. 3 weeks with snow/ice cover- that period ending up bone dry was the one nitpick. The Feb storm topped it off with 10". Over climo with 22.7"- and my measurements are usually low because I typically measure what's otg as I am often not home during the whole storm. (There was a report from an EM in Greensboro of 14" in the Feb storm). Anyway.. A- Had there been even a modest 2-4" snow event on top the Glacier I probably would have gone with a perfect score.
PrinceFrederickWx
It was a good winter, but I have to give it a B+ which really is a shame. But the highlights were: Snowed in DJFM (finally got December snow!) Historic snow/sleet/ice storm followed by brutal cold and a solid three weeks of snowcover. The March 12 historic cold drop and snow But at the end of the day, while it may have felt like deep winter, it really didn't snow all that much. I only ended up with 14.3" seasonal total (including sleet), which is below-average here. Honestly I preferred the 24/25 winter IMBY, with it's climo+ snowfall, 1/6 MECS and snowpack refreshers all month.

Last winter was a good one with 2 6"+ snowstorms(both all snow) and had snow otg for 2 weeks or so in Jan. I was just above climo here. Our area has a had a pretty nice run overall since the 2016 Nino. A couple lean winters plus the ratter mixed in.

To me personally, the 24-25 winter was more fun in both tracking and playing outside with my daughter.
AlexD1990
The blizzard puts it as an A-. Largest snowfall since 2010, howling winds, drifts. The snowcrete storm in January stuck around long than any other snow event I can remember. November & December were cold enough to feel seasonally appropriate. The huge 50 degree cold front with snow to end it all in March. The 1st coastal bomb that missed and only hit part of NC was tough to lose, and I wish we had had more storms overall/into March, but this was a very solid winter overall by my standards. Not many change to rain while DC get buried events, which is always a plus in my book.
JakkelWx
- Snow in DJFM (all four months), can't remember the last time that happened. - The january 25th storm chase to Harriman NY with single digit temperatures the entire time and nearly 2 feet of snow, plus record cold after and a bulletproof snowpack back home Detractor: 1st coastal bomb miss in early Feb - Blizzard of mid-late feb dumping largest snow since 2010 & surpassing 2016 by an inch or two - Crazy temp swing from 70s in the morning to snow 6 hours later - The most frozen i've ever seen the ponds and tributaries around here (2015 comes close) Overall an A-
AdamHLG
I'll go with a solid B for Baltimore County (north). The snow/sleet bomb and impressive cold afterwards saved the season and the overall grade given the impact that storm had across our region. Missing the NYC Blizzard dropped this from an A- right on through the B+ to arrive at the B. Solidifying the B was the fun we had with the "FOLKS" and the PBP when it counted - that was fun. bncho
McLean, VAWinter Rating: B Reasoning:McLean got exceptionally lucky with a local jackzone on multiple occasions this winter, allowing me to nickel and dime to climo. The snow/sleetfall from late-January stayed for a long, long time due to the severe cold in late-Jan to early-Feb, really helping this winter's case. There were lots of late nights just to see potential wasted for the DMV. March 12th's suprise snow saved this from being a B-.
clskinsfan
D- here. Under 40% of climo snow. Only reason it's not an F is because it was cold. And the one storm we did get our here stuck around for a month.
