Across the street from me workers were on scaffolding that partially fell (per fire radio, I couldn’t see it on my side). This is in Gaithersburg. Sounds like they were okay. Saw fire equipment I didn’t know existed like an 18 wheeler truck (technical rescue 731).

I honestly did not see much of a couplet with the tornado warned storms earlier, but now near Joppatowne there seems to be a bit of rotation. We'll see what happens with the next few scans.

Weather radio just announced a severe thunderstorm warning for SE Arl/SE DC.

Storm said to be over Alexandria.

That was an intense little burst near DCA.

DCA recorded a wind gust of 53 mph and .40 of rain in 6 minutes, as visibility shot down to 1/4 mile.

edit: then it picked up another .40 of rain in 8 minutes.

Pity it couldn't have been a soaking rain to help out better with the drought.

Lost power for 30 seconds and came back on, hallelujah! Spared after being hit during the heat wave. Over an inch of rain so far today. Plentiful T/L. Noisy. This is like a "if you enjoy the sound of summer thunder" line. Sound machine-worthy, classic.

I think there was a low prob of storms here today? Didn't pay much attention. Look to get hit pretty good, although the line is moving quickly. Wind really gusting on the front end. Took a few pics before I hauled ass up the driveway and into the house with all the T&L.

I can get some nice shots here with the wide open, flat landscape. Just have to jog down to the end of the driveway. This was an ok storm but looked pretty cool coming in.

On the 'waiting list' to get power back. Only had a 37 mph gust here, but just down the hill near the river several trees down into power lines and those down to the ground. Been out 4 hours, thankful for the generator.

Got a 26mph gust and almost lost my hat! The convection went up right after passing over so the rain was underwhelming.

Im curious to see how we clear out this morning after the rains. At least its coming through early. Ohio and Indiana already are popping.

The NAM seems to insist that the big activity later will stay back in SPC's outlooked area and even more more S or even SW. The HRRR differs in that it spawns activity in addition to that stuff and sweeps it through later on. 

I actually can easily see a scenario where the HRRR is right - depends on if the stuff that forms can cold pool and such (similar to yesterday). Let's go from a 5% to a moderate

Still out. Least on the outage map it now says, 'crew dispatched', lol. About 14-15 hours now.

Curious to see what the batch in Ohio does. The north central Indiana complex i feel will definitely slip far to our SW.

I dunno man. After yesterday and early morning rains …. Let alone day before that…this am crapvection…. It’s gonna take some full sun juice to re-prime and even then I don’t know. I’m gonna play the numbers and take the under.

Some breaks in the clouds to the west on visible sat. Devil's advocate arguments here could be the usual "the crapvection might lay down boundaries" or sometimes the preceding rainfall can help us stay moist rather than mixing to lower dews. 

I still think failure is a very high potential today - but my eyes are still open (for now).

The 09z RRFS sweeps some activity through the area around 2-3z. The CAMs are a mixed bag today (same as yesterday). Some completely skunk most of the area while others sweep some stuff through. "We just can't know"

Some bright sun and blue skies here and off to the west.  I think as long as we can get a good 4 to 6 hours of good heating it will be up to the boundaries and chance as you have stated
