March 1st, I guess it's time for me to come out of hibernation.  Finally made it through the coldest and darkest months of the year.

Looks like a lot of rain chances this week, but I see some 60's showing up towards next weekend.

Looking forward to some 7pm sunsets too 

Will it turn cold by the 3rd week, maybe...but at that point who cares.  It's been plenty cold and I'm just under 50 inches this season.  AN snow and BN temps, nothing to complain about on this one.

Sunrise: 6:21Am / Sunset: 5:47 PM

Daylight 11H:17M  - gained 2H2M since the lull 

Roughly equivalent to Oct 11th now and gaining  >2.5 mins each day this month

Picked up .02" melted and .10" new snow this morning.  Has melted already.  Stuck to everything except the street which still has salt residue.  Average snow depth this morning with about 70% coverage is 3".  Most of that measured in north facing / shadier locations.  Southern facing lawns and slopes bare ground to about 1".

This Feb was my 9th coldest with a 29.4° mean and 5th snowiest with 25.9". Also 5th coldest met winter... 50 years of record.

Ditto on 7pm sunsets coming back next Sunday. I think most would agree, it feels good to finally have turned the corner on sunlight today. November-February is the “darkest” 4 months of the year. March is the month with the biggest gain in daylight of the entire year…great to be back, looking forward to baseball season. My little cousin has the first regular season game of his high school varsity season the last Friday of March

Including what fell this morning (.10") I'm at 49.9" for the season.

There’s a similar situation in NYC: JFK reported 8” snow cover while Central Park had just 1”.

7pm sunset is a game changer every year. gives a fresh breath of air to the daily routine. also looking forward to some rain to get this salt out of here. not sure about other areas in the metro but white plains should be banned from ever looking at salt again. its absurd what they do, especially considering i come from somewhere with a significantly higher amount of snowfall than down here, i've never seen such blatant salt usage

22 inches from the storm is defintely under 5 inches now except for big piles.

My blizzard snows (12.5") from a week ago are essentially gone, except for drifted areas and plowed mounds.  I'm now back to working on what was left from the January glacier.  That stuff is still a crusty, crunchy mess of snow and ice.  Before the blizzard a week ago there was about 3" or so of that left and that is pretty much where I am at now, 3" with about 70% coverage.

It's got to be one of the fastest meltdowns ever. Snow piles are mostly what is left.

Don, I may have missed it, but will you please be posting an update to your winter index (the exact term is eluding me) post?  Am curious to see where our area lands currently with last week's storm baked in.
