Totally astounded by the crush job here. Can’t even look outside to see what’s going on. It’s a movie-like.

Probably a 50 year or 100 year storm for RI. Usually those 35-40 dbz bands don’t stick around for this long.

Thankfully power is still on, though half the town is out.

Officially changing my handle to 39/70 Benchmark after this one…

Not a great storm but there has to be more than 5 here.  I think Don in East Hartford has like 10 or 11.  Meteorologist Janna Brown from Agawam reported 7.5".

At 11" as of 9:15. Pretty significant gradient too. I'm at 11 and there's a report of 11 in Manchester in that 9am hour, while just to my north in South Windsor they have a report of 7.5 and just of that Enfield to SW corridor Ellington and Vernon are at double digits. Models were deadly with that shadowing effect.

HFD was very very close. Hit it at the 7:53 and 8:53am obs, but not 9:53. Not sure if they'd count any of the 5 min obs in that hour. Doubt it.

Wow only a few miles south of me you have 11!!! Good for you man

Thanks. I consider myself very lucky. Hopefully we can all get a couple as this rotates out. We still have a few hours to go.

If I didn't come back for this one, I was never coming back.

Pants optional on the ops floor today.

Good to see you post.  Always appreciate your insight and perspective on the weather!

If you are looking for some South County video, I took this about a half-hour ago, I'm in Wakefield RI just north of Snug Harbor. My apologies for the breathing but I basically got wind burn in the 2 minutes I was outside filming it lol.

Temp has been dropping here so the snow has turned a tad lighter (thankfully) and the wind is a bit more NW. Gusts are still prevalent but seem to be reducing a little compared to 2 hours ago.

What's hard to measure is the snow -- I am sure we have over 2 new feet but the drifts with this kind of wind make it really difficult to measure.

Woahh seeing twitter reports of 6" last hour around Providence 26-27" depth , Charlestown RI 6" last hour 35" new snow depth .. this was 10am! They may be at 40" now

Charlestown is often a big snow hole, worse than New London and Stonington. The drifts over rt1 must be epic

Gyx keeps knocking it down here. 2-4". Not a flake at home. Decent rates in pym

Might be toast there…lots of dry low level air. I had some bands move through and it was just light, emaciated flakes. 24/13 59% RH right now. At least there’s nothing really to clean up.

I wish. I might have to go back to December 2002 to find a storm where I was jealous of my parents compared to my location.

What are you getting in Portland right now?

At GYX now, but we're just finally getting the snow to reduce visibility up here.
