did we ever clear up the fact that it has to be a total of 3 hours not necessarily consecutive? I remember that was a controversy during the Blizzard of 2005 or 2006 i cant remember. Is it consecutive or total, the wording on some of the definitions was never clear

Consecutive…although they have been a bit more lax on the definition in the last decade. Like allowing for 1/4sm rather than M1/4sm and being more liberal on the “frequent gusts”. Although I don’t think a random 1/2sm ob in the middle of it should negate it.

ya sucks to have such massive numbers all around us again .. local minimum.. 16-24" in all directions.. except hartford county is a min with 6-10"

Looking at the radar its starting to fill in around Norwalk and Stamford and the radar is now moving towards a north south orientation. The HRRR parks it over us for an hour or two albeit a bit weaker.

It needs to be consecutive to qualify.

We knew the risks here, though it seems like my area is just enough south to escape the worst of it. Let's see what this jebwalk looks like though.

The mesonalysis fronto posted earlier showed it well, but there are your two main areas of forcing now. E MA is almost like a firehose right now. Then there’s the deformation further west. I think that will rot a bit and slowly move east.

What do you think of hi res like the HRRR trying to eject a band west back this way later in the morning/afternoon?
