Next weeks threat is pretty thread the needle.  Really need to eject the shortwave at the right time, otherwise you'll get suppression or a track too far north.

Gefd is really impressive with a cold high.

Let’s see how many thread the needle situations we can get lucky with in a week lol

just an observation I just left Westchester to come down to work in Queens. And I made a stop in Whitestone to shovel my parents.

It is not even close in terms of snow. I don’t know where many of these measurements were made down in the city. I’m assuming on large grassy areas. Because the snow lying around on the streets of Queens is a fraction, a small fraction of what we have 10 miles north of the Bronx.

I saw Whitestone reported 23 inches of snow. I’ve been in Whitestone with a 2 foot storm, and this isnt it.

just for reference in the photo below, that’s what people in Westchester are dealing with right now. i’m sure I on Long Island the scenes are similar.

Please stop. Besides compaction, it was above freezing for a bunch of hours yesterday and there was strong sun today.  There has been a lot of melting.

You likely spent some time under that heavy band that largely sat over the same area. Roughly a line from Staten Island, to Newark to Teterboro to Tarrytown to Yorktown Heights etc. Then relatively "lighter" snow going SE from you closer to the Sound, and across to Northern Nassau. Then picks up again as you head more into LI and most of NYC to the west closer to those bands. It's a lot of the snow for all, but you may be seeing the difference between over 2 ft of snow vs totals in the teens to around 20."

I always thought that storm happened on the night of the 10th, separate from flurries event at the Stadium on the 9th.

Whatever the date, you're right that that storm increased drastically from west to east, and not sure if that got the city much.  4" by me but I think 10-12" out by Smithtown/Kings Park.  @NorthShoreWx can answer this one for sure.

Edit:  I think you're right about it occurring on the 9th into the 10th.
