The way it looks on the GEFS we could initially have some rain/ice and then as the deeper cold comes in we end up getting some snow. Pretty loaded look though with all that moisture.

Verbatim this would be snow on the mean for the region with the colder air in place.

But the real question is what is this storm’s name?

I find it a little funny how much we bash the gfs and then are hyper focused on every run 150+ hours out.

It’s the Washington wizards of weather. If you are a fan you keep watching because they add something and call it improved but it’s last in the league from 3 point range

6 weenies for just that?? Y'all are weird. Out of all the doom posts and complaints, somehow or another all I gotta do is complain a little one time and suddenly it's the worst post ever? Nah that's a y'all problem not mine. We are all snow-obssesed here and have weenie hopes AND fears and express them here. And as long as complaints are not incessant, it should be fine.

Been overcast since 9:15 in Fairfax City despite a mostly sunny forecast.

I note the AFDs have a new format with "keypoints" rather than being organized strictly chronologically. Wonder why they decided to screw around with it.

I actually like the new format.  I think its better.  Seems like its a new thing across the WFOs

I like the new format highlighting Key Messages, but I'm not sure how I feel about it not being necessarily chronological. They seem to have made the decision to start with most impactful within each forecast period in the discussion, regardless of chronology.

Hm.

Here's the announcement, published Tues:
