Light Snowfall (1" - 4") on Tuesday Dec 23 For NYC Region (Discussion & Observations)

Some areas going way over forecast. Other areas in subsidence leading to light intensity or rain. I posted 2 days ago (guessing) that I thought there would be winners and losers... that these types of overrunning events lead to narrow bands and funky distributions... and that's how it played out. These are the most wonderful events for those in the jackpot zones!

I have wavered back and forth on the northern edge of that band.

I have 2.5 inches as of 9am, 0.7 inches fell between 8:30-9:00 when i wavered back into the thick of it. I'm guessing 10 miles north of me in New Windsor they probably have 1-1.5 inches. We would like to hear from someone there.

Greenville Mtn just to the west of me im sure has 6-7". 1-2F colder with elevation over 1300'. Those homes along Greenville Tpke off RT 6 is a legit weenie spot

Same here. Alternating between light and big fat flakes. Still 33. About 3/4"

32.4° light snow

1.25" here as of 10:00am in Cornwall. Missed out on that band but not complaining.

Just NW of Middletown.

When I looked out at 830 it was vomiting snow !  That is next step in intensity after "puking" snow.

Almost like a March-like storm. Inland and elevation helps, while most areas have minimal accumulation. Makes you wonder what 3 degrees colder would have produced this morning

There was still some snow up there from Friday on the north facing slopes along 84 yesterday.

Most likely under a heavier band. Seems folks to the west of city are doing best with better rates and some elevation. We’ve been under very light precip since the start, here.

It’s tough to get much snow near the coast with SW winds.

Probably a final measurement of 0.8", since temp is up to 34F and we're seeing melting/compaction so even though it's still snowing, it's not really accumulating much anymore. Still pretty happy with this little overperformer (forecast was for 0.5" and my prediction was 1.0"). 7.8" for the season so far and hopefully several more on Friday night.

Beautiful snowfall. Up to 34 here, never got more than 1/4” on ground at any time here. Probably flip to rain soon here as flakes are huge
