With blowing and drifting leaves

My driveway runs adjacent to my house, facing due east. Creates a bit of a wind tunnel with my neighbors garage. In the winter and fall, leaf piles and snow drifts end up in the same place: along but a few feet away from where the wall meets the driveway.

Sigh. Another winter of seeing places well to the south cash in while we are missed?

If that streak is gonna break I guess we can't count on it breaking in a la nina. Even dang Atlanta got flurries before we did. It baffles me to no end how the supposed boundary is inching "north" yet places just south--or WAY south--of here have seen more snow than we have over the last 8 years. Just on a commonsense level that makes zero sense. You'd think warmer would mean that wouldn't happen as much and yet here we are!

It's unfortunate happenstance that some spots further south are on a bit of a "run" (though I doubt if you asked the SE thread folks, they'd think they've been on a heater) but in the greater timescale of recorded meteorological history the streak you refer to is a blip. It'll average back out in the averages eventually.

Incredibly tricky temperature forecasts this weekend.   Warm air will be lurking just our south and southwest, but there is increasing concern now that we'll end up on the cooler side of the boundary each day.

Yuck. I hope it’s warm from now until mid-December. Winter can start after that.

Anecdotal and vibes-based, but it seems like since August we’ve been trending cooler at short and mid-ranges in contrast to what seems like always betting warm. Next week potentially looking quite chilly now. Mid-month torch that was expected has been muted/deleted for sure.
